고양시재향군인회가 6월 호국보훈의 달을 맞아 순국선열과 호국영령의 희생정신을 기리는 뜻깊은 행사를 개최했다.

2일 고양시현충공원에서 열린 이번 행사는 '영웅과 함께 GO! 바둑! GO!' 캠페인의 일환으로 진행되었으며, 고양시재향군인회 임직원과 여성회원 등 총 40여 명이 참석했다.

행사는 오전 10시 20분 현충공원 전시관 입구에서 참가자들이 집결하며 시작되었다. 이어 현충탑을 참배하며 나라를 위해 희생한 순국선열들을 추모하는 엄숙한 시간을 가졌다.

참배에 이어 6·25 전쟁 당시 활동한 태극단을 주제로 한 안보교육이 실시되어 참가자들의 국가안보 의식을 높이는 계기가 되었다.

태극단은 한국전쟁 중 북한 지역에서 활동한 유격부대로, 이들의 활동상을 통해 조국 수호 의지를 되새겼다.

교육 후에는 참가자들이 직접 현충공원 주변 쓰레기를 수거하고 묘비를 닦는 등 환경정비 활동을 펼쳤다.

이는 순국선열에 대한 예우를 실천하는 동시에 성역을 깨끗하게 관리하겠다는 의지를 보여주는 활동이었다.

모든 프로그램을 마친 후에는 기념촬영을 진행하고 참가자들이 함께 점심식사를 나누며 행사를 마무리했다.

고양시재향군인회 관계자는 "이번 행사를 통해 참가자들이 순국선열의 희생정신을 마음깊이 새기고, 나라사랑의 의미를 실천으로 되새기는 소중한 시간이 되었다"고 행사의 의미를 설명했다.
