파주시산림조합은 지난 5월 21일부터 22일까지 이틀간 조합원을 위한 예초기 안전점검을 실시했다.

이번 점검은 봄이 끝나고 일교차가 커지며 잡풀이 자라나기 시작하는 시기를 맞아 마련됐다.

이번 행사는 2023년 추석맞이 행사로 시작된 ‘산림장비 안전점검의 날’이 조합원의 호응을 얻으면서 3년 만에 처음으로 연 2회 운영을 계획해 진행된 것이다. 

올해는 5월과 9월 두 차례 진행되며, 9월에는 추석을 앞두고 실시될 예정이다.

행사에서는 약 50여 대의 예초기를 점검하고 수리했으며, 예초기 사용 시 발생할 수 있는 기기 결함과 작동 불량, 조작 미숙 등으로 인한 사고를 예방하기 위해 올바른 사용법과 보관법에 대한 교육도 함께 진행됐다.

전진옥 파주시산림조합장은 “꽃향기 가득했던 봄이 지나고 무더운 여름이 다가옴에 따라 안전수칙을 준수한 예초작업이 무엇보다 중요하다며 “산주와 임업인이 보다 안전하고 효율적으로 임업활동을 할 수 있도록 지속적인 지원을 확대하겠다”고 말했다.[파주=빅정호 기자]
