일산동부경찰서(서장 강찬구)는 14일 냉천초등학교 앞 어린이보호구역에서 대한노인회 일산동구지회, 모범운전자회, 녹색어머니회, 교직원 등 유관기관 관계자 30여 명과 함께 ‘안전띠 착용 일상화 캠페인’을 실시했다.

이번 캠페인은 어린이 안전띠 착용 생활화를 통해 교통안전 문화를 정착시키기 위한 전국 동시 캠페인의 일환으로 진행됐다.

경기북부에서는 지난해 교통 사망사고 81건 중 안전띠 미착용 또는 착용 여부 확인이 불가한 사고가 52건으로, 전체의 64%를 차지한 것으로 나타났다.

강찬구 일산동부경찰서장은 “안전벨트를 착용하지 않은 채 60km/h로 달리면 8층 높이에서 추락하는 충격과 같고 100km/h일 경우에는 13층에서 추락하는 충격과 동일하다”며 “전 좌석 안전벨트 착용은 법적 의무이자 생명을 지키는 최소한의 장치”라고 강조했다.

이어 “연중 집중단속을 통해 안전띠 착용 문화가 정착되도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.[고양=박정호 기자]
