(사)한국숲사랑총연합회 경기지역 회원들이 황금연휴를 반납하고 이웃돕기와 환경보호를 위한 봉사활동에 적극 나섰다.

한국숲사랑총연합회 경기지역에 따르면, 회원들은 어제(6일) 고양시 덕양구 공릉천 무궁화단지에서 제초작업과 환경정화활동을 병행했다.

이에 앞서 지난달 28일부터 5월 3일까지 5일 동안은 다문화 가족 및 사회약자들과 나눌 농작물 재배를 위해 밭을 갈고 비닐을 씌운 후 고구마 순과 호박 등 약 100kg을 심었다.

이 봉사활동에는 김필례 경기지역 총재와 조금복 사무총장, 김미경 고양시의원(여성회장), 정형배 산림보호회장, 문진주 고양시지회장 등 회원 30여 명이, 무더운 날씨에도 불구하고 적극적으로 참여했다.

한편, 지난달 19일에는 산불피해로 어려움을 겪고 있는 경북 영양군을 방문해 성금 300만원과 재래식 된장 100kg을 전달했다.

당시 회원들은 영양군 석보면 화매리 인근에서 영농폐비닐수거작업을 실시했으며, 석보면 포산리 인근에서는 하천비닐수거와 환경정화활동도 진행했다.

김필례 총재는 "숲사랑 봉사자들이 숲과 하천, 밭에서 구슬땀을 흘리는 이유는 후손들에게 수려한 자연환경과 맑은 공기, 그리고 아름다운 세상 속에서 살도록 하기 위해서"라며 "앞으로도 자연을 보호하고 가꾸는데 앞장 설 것"이라고 말했다.

한국숲사랑총연합회 경기지역은 지속적인 환경보호 활동과 더불어 지역사회 취약계층을 위한 다양한 나눔 활동을 이어갈 예정이다.
