일산동부경찰서가 18일 일산 문화공원 앞 도로에서 이륜차, 개인형 이동 장치(PM), 자전거 등 두바퀴차의 위험하고 비난받을 만한 위반 행위 증가에 따라 시민들의 안전한 일상 확보를 위해 대대적인 안전 활동을 펼쳤다.

이번 단속은 경기도북부경찰청의 두바퀴차 안전 활동 추진 계획의 일환으로, 한국교통안전공단과 일산동구청이 합동으로 진행했다.

경기북부 지역 내 두바퀴차 사고 사망자가 전년 대비 크게 증가한 상황에서, 경찰은 고위험·고비난 위반 행위로 인한 교통 사망사고를 예방하기 위해 특별 교통안전 활동의 필요성을 강조했다. 

특히 청소년, 사회 초년생, 배달 운전자 등 두바퀴차 주요 이용자들에게 안전 운전을 당부하고, 이용 시 유의사항을 홍보하는 한편, 집중 단속을 실시했다.

단속 결과, 이륜차 굉음(소음기 불법 튜닝) 등 자동차관리법 위반 17건, 신호위반, 벌금 수배, PM 인도 주행 등 총 20건의 위반 행위를 적발했다.

강찬구 일산동부경찰서장은 "두바퀴차의 고위험·고비난 위반 행위로 인한 교통사고를 예방하기 위해 유관기관과 합동으로 특별 교통안전 활동을 지속적으로 실시할 예정"이라며, "안전한 교통 문화 확립을 통해 시민들이 도로 위에서 평온한 일상을 누릴 수 있도록 노력하겠다"고 밝혔다.[고양=박정호 기자]
