고양특례시 장애인체육선수단은 지난 11일부터 14일까지 강원특별자치도일원에서 펼쳐진 제22회 전국장애인동계체육대회에 경기도 대표로 참가해 뜨거운 열정을 선보이고 대회를 마무리했다.

고양특례시시장애인체육회 소속 선수단에서는 이번 대회에 빙상, 스노보드, 아이스하키 등 3개 종목 9명의 선수가 경기도 대표로 출전해 은메달 1개, 동메달 2개를 획득했다.

빙상 500m 종목에 출전한 김동욱 선수는 준준결승에서 3위의 성적으로 준결승전에 진출했으나 열띤 승부 끝에 네 번째로 결승선을 통과하며 아쉽게 메달 획득에는 실패했다. 

고양아이스워리워스 아이스하키팀은 2월 14일 펼쳐진 3·4위전에서 승리해 값진 동메달을 획득했다. 

순수 아마추어 선수들로 구성된 고양아이스워리워스는 3승 1패의 우수한 성적으로 조별예선을 통과한 후 4강전에서 조별예선 2조 1위로 올라온 전북팀을 만나 접전 끝에 2대 0으로 아쉽게 패하여 3·4위전을 치르게 됐다. 

3·4위전에서는 서울팀과 맞붙어 2점을 먼저 내주었지만 최종스코어 4대 2로 역전승을 거두며 3위로 동메달을 목에 걸었다. 

고양시장애인체육선수단을 응원하기 위해 격려단과 함께 경기장을 방문한 고양시장애인체육회 장영동 사무국장은 경기가 끝난 후 선수들을 만나 “최선을 다하는 선수들의 모습에 찐한 감동을 느낀다. 대표팀 선수들이 고양시어울림누리 빙상경기장에서 훈련하며 흘린 땀과 노력이 결실을 거두는 과정을 지켜보니 우리 고양시 선수들이 무척 자랑스럽다”라고 격려의 말을 전했다.

스노보드 종목에 출전한 최석민 선수는 대회 마지막 날인 2월 14일 스노보드 남자 대회전LL2 경기에서 2위, 스노보드크로스LL2 경기에서 3위로 은메달 1개와 동메달 1개를 획득해 경기도 대표로서 동계체전의 끝을 멋지게 장식했다.
