파주시는 지난 12일 파주시청 대회의실에서 파주시 탄소중립녹색성장위원회 위원장인 최병갑 파주시 부시장과 파주시의회 의원, 전문가, 시민 등 10여 명이 참석한 가운데, ‘탄소중립 녹색성장 기본계획 수립 용역 중간보고회’를 개최했다.

‘탄소중립 녹색성장 기본계획’은 「탄소중립 녹색성장 기본법」에 따라 5년마다 기후 위기 대응을 위한 방법을 구상하는 법정 계획으로, 2050년까지 탄소중립 달성을 목표로 한다. 

시는 기본계획 수립을 위해 지난해 9월 2025~2034년 10년간의 온실가스 감축 목표 설정 등을 위한 용역에 착수했다. 

이번 중간보고회에서는 먼저 그간 진행된 용역 진행 상황과 방향 등에 대해 설명 듣고 참석자 간 의견을 나누는 시간을 가졌다. 

참석자들은 파주 지역 특성에 맞는 실효성 있는 탄소중립 방안을 수립하기 위해 파주시 온실가스 배출량 등 기본 현황을 확인하고 온실가스 감축 방향, 단계별 실천 방안 등에 대해 논의했다. 

시는 이번 회의에서 나온 의견들을 종합해 보완하고 최종보고회 등을 거쳐 기본계획을 완성해 나갈 예정이다.

조윤옥 기후위기대응과장은 “탄소중립은 우리 모두가 함께해야 할 과제이기에 각 분야에서 적극적인 감축이 이뤄질 수 있도록 실효성 있는 기본계획을 수립해 효과적인 탄소중립 정책 실현의 기반을 다져나갈 것”이라고 말했다.
