파주시는 지난 11일 파주시청 본관 대회의실에서 성매매집결지 폐쇄를 주제로 관계부서 총괄회의를 개최하고 전략적인 실천 방안에 대한 심도 있는 논의를 진행했다.

올해 첫 번째로 열린 이번 총괄회의에서는 최병갑 파주시 부시장을 비롯해 김은숙 복지정책국장, 박기정 건축주택국장과 여성가족과 등 13개 부서장이 참석한 가운데 ▲성매매집결지 거점시설 활성화 ▲성매매집결지 환경 개선 ▲반(反)성매매 문화 조성 ▲성매매피해자 지원이라는 4대 추진 전략을 공유하고 각 부서별 추진 방향과 세부 추진계획 수립 등에 대한 논의가 이뤄졌다.

파주시는 지난해 성매매집결지 폐쇄를 위해 성매매집결지 거점시설 토지·건물 매입 및 새단장(리모델링), 불법건축물 행정대집행 실시, 여행길 걷기·올빼미 캠페인 활동·클리어링 캠페인 등 성매매 근절 시민 활동 전개, 반(反)성매매 공감대 조성 맞춤형 교육, 안전한 마을 만들기 및 통학환경 개선, 성매매집결지 여성친화적 공간 조성 연구용역 등 다양한 사업을 추진해 왔다.

올해는 기존 사업을 더욱 강화하는 한편 성매매집결지 토지·건물 추가 매입, 현장 교육전람회장 조성, 성매매 예방 현장 교육 운영, 성구매자 차단 민·관 감시단 운영 등 신규 사업을 추진해 ‘성매매집결지 폐쇄 원년’을 실현할 계획이다. 

최병갑 파주시 부시장은 “모든 부서는 긴밀한 협력으로 성매매집결지 폐쇄 정책 추진의 효과성을 극대화하고, 목표를 차질 없이 달성할 수 있도록 최선을 다해주길 바란다”라며 “올해는 성매매집결지 폐쇄가 가시화되는 시점으로 성매매집결지 폐쇄 이후 새로운 공간 조성을 위해 각 부서, 분야별 전문가들의 의견을 적극 수렴하여 지역적 특성에 맞는 실행 가능한 계획을 마련해달라”라고 강조했다.
