파주시는 국토교통부가 주최한 ‘2024년 대한민국 도시대상’ 도시환경 부문에서 국토교통부장관상을 수상했다.

시는 2022년 국토교통부 장관상, 2023년 특별상을 수상한 데 이어 올해도 국토교통부장관상을 수상하면서 지속 가능한 도시 경쟁력을 갖춘 살기 좋은 도시로서의 입지를 굳혔다. 

대한민국 도시대상은 지속가능한 도시 실현과 생활 기반 시설 수준 향상에 기여한 우수 지자체에 수여하는 상으로, 국토교통부는 전국 229개 시군구 지자체를 대상으로 도시사회, 도시경제, 도시환경, 지원체계 등 4개 분야를 평가해 우수지자체를 선정한다.

평가는 대한국토·도시계획학회와 국토연구원 등 전문가로 구성된 평가위원단이 기본지표와 정책지표를 서면으로 평가한 후, 실적이 우수한 지자체를 방문해 2차 현장 평가를 하는 방식으로 진행된다.

파주시는 ▲사회취약계층을 위한 안정적인 주거지원 ▲저탄소 녹색도시 실현을 위한 탄소중립 환경정책 ▲대중교통 노선 확대 및 수요응답버스(똑버스) 운영 확대로 시민교통편의 제공 등에서 우수한 평가를 받았다.

김경일 파주시장은 “3년 연속 도시대상 수상은 주거, 환경, 교통 등 민생과 밀접한 분야에서 시민 중심의 지속 가능한 정책들을 추진해 온 결과”라며, “앞으로도 100만 자족도시를 조속히 실현하기 위해 파주시만의 맞춤형 특화 전략을 도출해 각종 사업을 지속해서 추진해 나가겠다”라고 말했다.[파주=빅정호 기자]
