파주목의 유구한 역사와 문화를 되새기는 '2024년 제8회 파주목 봉황축제'가 지난 16일 파주향교 및 문화체육센터 일원에서 주민 1천여 명이 참석한 가운데 성황리에 열렸다.

파주읍 주민자치회의 주관으로 개최된 이번 축제는 파주의 중심이자 본향인 파주읍의 전통과 얼을 계승·발전시키고 선현의 옛 모습을 재현하기 위해 마련됐다.

이날 축제에는 김경일 파주시장, 안명규 경기도의원, 이익선, 오창식 파주시의회 의원과 노영준 파주읍 주민자치회장을 비롯한 파주읍 관내 각 기관, 단체장 등이 참석해 파주목 봉황축제의 의미를 되새겼다. 

봉황축제의 꽃인 ‘파주목사 부임행차 재현’은 조선시대에 파주목을 다스리던 파주목사가 부임할 때 행차했던 모습을 재현하는 것으로, 파주향교에서 고유례를 치른 후 파주초등학교에서부터 축제가 열리는 파주문화체육센터로 이동하는 방식으로 진행됐다.

부임행차에는 김경일 파주시장과 주민자치회장, 이장협의회장 등 관내 주요 사회단체장과 회원 및 주민 등 100여 명에 달하는 인원이 참여해 길게 이어진 행렬을 선보여 장관을 연출했다.

축제장에서는 파주목 관아지 홍보와 주민자치회에서 수집한 마을 사진 기록물을 전시하는 사진전 등으로 전통과 주민이 어우러지는 볼거리를 제공하고, 파주중, 관내 공방 등에서 준비한 체험 공간은 물론, 새마을부녀회, 생활개선회 등 기관단체에서 마련한 다양한 먹거리가 마련돼 축제장을 찾은 관객들의 호응을 얻었다.[파주=빅정호 기자]
