이동환 고양특례시장은 27일 일본 도쿄에서 주식회사 나이티(Naity) 요네야마 유우이치 대표와 300억원 규모의 일산테크노밸리 투자의향서를 체결했다. 

이번 투자의향서 체결은 지난 고양시-나이티 간 업무협약에 대한 후속 조치의 일환이다. 

이 시장은 8월 6일 일본 IP제작위원회가 개최하는 한일교류회에 참여해 주식회사 나이티 등과 업무협약을 체결하고 고양시 콘텐츠 기업과 연계한 IP융복합 공동프로젝트 발굴 사업에 공동으로 협력하기로 했다.

주식회사 나이티는 종합비즈니스 및 콘텐츠 제작개발업체이며 한국의 코어소프트와 함께 한일IP제작위원회를 조직하고 고양시와 IP분야, 콘텐츠 투자시스템, 콘텐츠 제작 협력을 논의해 왔다. 

이 시장은 “업무협약을 체결한 지 불과 20여 일 만에 나이티와 일산테크노밸리 투자의향서를 체결하게 되어 기쁘게 생각하며, 해외접근성이 뛰어나고 성장가능성이 높은 고양특례시에 해외의 많은 기업들이 투자할 수 있는 계기가 되기를 바란다”고 전했다. 

이 시장은 이에 앞서 게임제작사 사이게임즈 관계자를 만나 일산테크노밸리 연말 분양과 경제자유구역 추진사항을 설명했다.

사이게임즈 측은 본사 관계자가 10월~11월경 고양시를 직접 방문하여 후속논의를 진행하고 싶다고 전했다.  

사이게임즈는 2011년 설립된 게임제작사이며, ‘프린세스 커넥트’, ‘새도우버스’ 등 흥행작을 출시했다. 

설립 당시 직원 5명에서 현재 3,600여명 규모로 급성장했으며 한국, 미국, 영국, 싱가포르, 대만 등에 지사를 운영하고 있다. 

사이게임즈의 모회사인 사이버에이전트는 도쿄증시 상장사로 84개 자회사와 9개 계열사가 있다.

이 시장은 이후 일본게임보존협회 조셉 레돈 이사장을 만나 게임콘텐츠 산업 활성화와 협회 회원 게임사 유치 방안을 논의했다. 

일본게임보존협회는 비디오 게임을 중요한 문화적 자산으로 인식하고, 미래에 보존할 수 있는 전문적 기술과 지식을 보유한 자원봉사자 그룹이 설립한 비영리 단체(NPO)다. 

게임 마스터링, 하드웨어 전문 지식, 데이터베이스 설정, 소프트웨어 리소스 수집 및 보존, 이미지 처리 기술 등 다양한 기술 보유하고 있다.

이 시장은 이어 영상산업진흥기구(VIPO)를 방문해 영상, 콘텐츠 산업 협력방안과 일본 콘텐츠 기업의 유치 가능성을 논의했다.  

영상산업진흥기구는 일본의 콘텐츠진흥원이라고 불리며 현재 104개의 일본 주요 콘텐츠 기업 및 조직을 회원으로 두고 있다. 

국내외 콘텐츠 산업의 장르를 넘어 네트워크와 인재를 육성하며 일본 및 해외 시장을 개척하고 있다.
