파주소방서는 문산읍에서 발생한 공동주택 화재를 초기 진압한 민간인 이명로(37세) 씨에게 지난 31일 표창장을 수여했다고 밝혔다.

이번 표창은 지난 7월 16일 새벽 4시 57분경, 파주시 문산읍 소재 공동주택에서 발생한 화재 현장에서 이 씨의 신속하고 적절한 초기 대응로 큰 화재를 막은 유공으로 전수됐다.

㈜경동택배에 근무 중인 이명로 씨는 택배를 배달하던 중 검은 연기를 목격하고 주변에 소방차와 주민들이 없는 상황을 확인, 아파트 내에 비치된 소화기를 사용하여 분리수거장에서 발생한 화재를 진압했다.

이 씨의 신속한 대응으로 화재는 분리수거장 내에서 자체 진화되었으며, 전구함과 분리수거장 펜스 일부가 소실되는 피해만으로 마무리되었다.

만약 이 씨의 초기 대응이 없었다면, 화재는 공동주택으로 확산되어 더 큰 재산 피해로 이어질 수 있었다.
