일산소방서는 지난 18일 제3회 의용소방대의 날을 맞이하여 국립대전현충원에서 일산 의용소방대 연합회장을 포함 의용소방대원 40명이 참석한 가운데 순국선열 및 순직 소방공무원·의용인 참배를 통한 희생정신을 계승하고 지역의 안전 봉사자로서 역할과 정신을 다짐하는 행사를 실시하였다고 밝혔다.

의용소방대의 날은 2021년 의용소방대 설치 및 운영에 관한 법률을 개정하면서 법정 기념일(3월19일)로 지정됐다.

의로운 마음, 뜨거운 용기로 국민과 함께하는 위대한 발걸음을 주제로 박철수, 김영란 일산 의용소방대 연합회장은 “의용소방대원들이 조국을 위해 헌신한 순국선열 및 순직소방관·의용인들의 정신을 받들어 지역지킴이로서 안전을 책임지는 위대한 발걸음이 될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 전했다.
