고양특례시는 18일 법곳동 유병철 농가포장에서  이동환 고양시장과 권지선 농업기술센터 소장, 오영석 농협 고양시지부장 등 관계자 20여명이 참석한 가운데 가와지1호 벼베기 행사를 개최하면서 본격적인 햅쌀 수확에 들어갔다.

이날 수확한 ‘가와지1호’쌀은 고양시 특화농산물로 쌀알이 맑고 밥맛이 우수하다. 찹쌀과 멥쌀의 중간인 반찰품종으로 미리 불리지 않아도 밥맛이 좋아 바쁜 현대인들에게 안성맞춤이다.

특히, 가와지쌀은 학교 급식용 쌀 선호도 조사에서 170개 학교의 98%가 가와지쌀을 선택할 만큼 선호도가 높다.

이번에 수확된 벼는 건조와 도정 과정을 거친 후 4㎏, 10㎏ 단위뿐만 아니라 1.45kg, 450g, 150g 등 다양한 포장단위로 소비자들을 만나게 된다.
