고양시 이동환 시장은 13일 간부회의에서“지난달 드론산업의 거점이 될 고양드론앵커센터가 화전동에 문을 열었다”며 “내년에는 킨텍스 인근에 드론(도심항공교통, UAM) 수직 이착륙장(버티포트) 조성이 완료되면 고양시가 미래 항공 교통수단 산업의 중심지로 거듭날 조건을 고루 갖추게 될 것”이라고 강조하며 지난 8월말에 개관한 고양드론앵커센터와 드론 기반시설을 활용해 적극적으로 드론산업 육성 방안을 강구해달라고 주문했다.

이어 “이러한 우수한 기반시설을 활용할 수 있는 다양한 방안을 전 부서에서 다각적으로 모색해달라”며 “고양드론앵커센터에 입주하는 10여 개의 드론 기업을 비롯해 다양한 민간기업과의 협력사업도 적극 검토해주시기 바란다”고 직원들의 적극적인 협조를 요청했다. 

이 시장은 “드론은 포화상태에 다다른 육상 교통수단의 미래 대안으로 떠오르고 있다. 고양시는 드론 산업과 도심항공교통(UAM) 산업 기반을 빠르게 조성하고 김포공항, 인천공항과 인접해 입지적 조건도 우수한 만큼 이를 적극 활용해 드론과 도심항공교통(UAM) 산업의 중심지로 자리매김할 것”이라고 드론산업 육성에 강한 의지를 밝혔다.

고양시는 드론산업과 도심항공교통을 4차 산업 시대의 핵심 사업이자 미래 운송·교통수단으로 육성하고 있다. 

지난 5월 열린 전통문화축제 고양행주문화제에서는 드론 500대를 활용해 행주대첩 재현 퍼포먼스를 펼치는 등 다양한 분야와 접목해 드론산업을 활성화하고 있다. 

이 시장은 드론 레이싱 대회와 1인칭시점(FPV, First Person View) 드론 대회, 드론 디자인 대회 등 규모 있는 드론 대회도 고양시에서 개최할 수 있도록 검토하겠다고 밝혔다.

또한 이 시장은 15일부터 열리는 경기도 생활체육대축전에 대해서도  “경기도민 모두에게 기억에 남는 최고의 체전이 되도록 총력을 다 할 것”이라며 ‘안전을 1순위’로 삼을 것을 관계 부서에 당부했다.[고양=박정호 기자]
