파주시산림조합은 임업에서 가장 노동력을 많이 필요로 하는 작업 중 하나인 방제 작업에 드론이 활용되면서 항공방제용 방제작업에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다라고 설명했다.

국제무인시스템협회(AUVSI)에 따르면 드론시장은 2025년까지 85조원 규모에 이르며, 이중 상업용 드론의 80%가 농·임업용으로 활용될 전망이다.

임업에서 드론이 활용되어지는 분야는 방제, 파종, 작황 예찰, 병해충 감시 순이며 기술 발전에 따라 다양한 작업으로 확대될 것으로 보여진다. 

특히, 농촌이 고령화되면서 임업 노동력 부족으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 영농현장의 인력난 해소가 가능하고 농약 살포에 드론을 활용하면 임업인이 농약에 직접 노출되는 것을 막고 농작업 능률이 향상될 수 있다.

 전진옥 파주시산림조합장은 초경량 비행장치 무인멀티콥터 조종자 교육에 참여한 20명의 조합원이 교육기간동안 자격을 취득하여 임업분야에 활용 될 수 있도록 적극 노력하겠다고 말했다.
