고양시청 열린시장실에서 지난 28일 에스케이이엔에스(SK E&S)와 친환경 수소 교통수단(모빌리티) 도시 조성을 위한 업무 협약을 체결했다.

이 협약을 통해 고양시와 에스케이이엔에스(SK E&S)는 친환경 대중교통을 확대해 지속가능한 도시 교통수단을 확보하고 친환경 수소 에너지 사업을 육성하기 위해 협력할 예정이다.

에스케이이엔에스(SK E&S)는 친환경 수소 에너지 기술을 선도하는 글로벌 기업으로서, 고양시와 함께 수소 충전 시설 확충을 통한 수소 차 보급 확대에 앞장서겠다고 밝혔다.

고양시는 양 기관의 협력이 대기 오염 감소, 탄소 배출 감소로 이어져 시정 목표인 ‘미세먼지 없는 고양 만들기’에 한층 가까워질 것으로 기대하고 있다.

시 관계자는 “교통 분야에서 발생하는 미세먼지와 탄소를 줄이기 위해서는 대중교통 분야에서 수소 차량을 확대하는 것이 실질적인 해결책이 될 것”이라며 “에스케이이엔에스(SK E&S)와 유기적인 협력관계를 구축해 지속 가능한 도시를 구축하고 미래 세대에 더 나은 환경을 조성하겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.

한편, 고양시는 지난 7월에 환경부(한국자동차환경협회) 민간자본보조사업에 선정됐다. 시는 총 사업비 110억 원을 투입해 2024년 말까지 일산서구 대화 버스공영차고지에 수소 충전소를 설치해 고양시민의 수소 차 편의성을 높일 계획이다.[고양=박정호 기자]
