고양시는  12일 호국의 얼이 담겨있는 행주산성 한강공원 내에 무궁화동산을 조성하고 기념 식수행사를 열었다.

이날 행사는 대한민국 나라의 초석을 다졌던 보훈단체와 우리나라 무궁화 삼천리 미래를 이끌어갈 초등학생들이 함께했다.

참가자들은 이름이 새겨진 무궁화 푯말을 나무에 달고 나라꽃 무궁화의 의미를 되새겼다.

행사에 참석한 행주초등학교 학생은“학교 근처에 무궁화동산이 생겨서 좋다. 무궁화를 심으면서 나라사랑의 정신을 배웠다.”고 말했다.

이동환 고양시장은“앞으로도 고양시에 더 많은 무궁화 식재 장소를 확보하겠다. 한여름에 아름다운 꽃을 피우는 무궁화를 고양시 곳곳에서 찾아볼 수 있도록 하겠다.”고 말했다.[고양=박정호 기자]
