국토교통부는 ‘지속가능 교통물류 발전법’ 제15조에 따라 매년 인구 10만명 이상 73개 도시를 대상으로 교통과 관련된 환경, 사회, 경제 부문의 현황과 시행정책을 진단해 문제점을 개선하고자 2014년부터 평가를 시행해 오고 있다.
