-Selected as the first aviation corps in northern Gyeonggi...
Goyang City announced on the 26th that Korea Aerospace University was finally selected for the “Software (SW) Centered University Competition” organized by the Information Communication Planning and Evaluation Institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Korea Aerospace University was selected as a software-oriented university for the first time in the northern part of Gyeonggi Province, and received government funding of 5.5 billion won for six years.
Based on the results of this selection, the city will support Korea Aerospace University to smoothly cultivate artificial intelligence (AI) and software talents.
First, it will carry out a patent-based industry-academic cooperation project with artificial intelligence and software companies in the jurisdiction. In addition, it supports companies and a team composed of professors, graduate students, and undergraduate research students to research and develop artificial intelligence and big data.
In addition, it plans to carry out a youth start-up support program in connection with the “28 Youth Start-ups” located in Goyang City. Special lectures on artificial intelligence and software careers are also offered to elementary, middle and high school students in the hall.
Goyang Mayor Lee Jae-joon said, “2021 is an important time for the construction of self-sufficient facilities that will lead future industries such as Ilsan Techno Valley, Kintex 3rd Exhibition Center, and Broadcasting Video Valley.
The selection of the public offering project of the company was a great help.” He also said, “We will spare no effort to support Hankuk Aviation University as a space to nurture artificial intelligence and software talents.”
Meanwhile, the “Software-Centered University Project” is a state-funded project to cultivate global artificial intelligence software talents who will lead the mobility service industry, such as smart logistics and sharing, as well as autonomous driving software talent required for drones (UAM), electric vehicles, and robots.
From 2015, including Korea Aerospace University, 32 universities including KAIST, Kookmin University, Dongguk University, and Hanyang University have been selected as software-oriented universities.
