고양특례시 장항지구와 GTX-A 킨텍스역을 연결하는 누리버스 N003번이 오는 10월 6일부터 2대 체제로 확대 운행된다.

장항지구 입주가 본격화하면서 이용객이 가파르게 증가한 데 따른 조치로, 출퇴근 시간대 GTX-A 킨텍스역을 이용하는 주민들의 대중교통 편의가 크게 개선될 전망이다.

N003번은 현재 장항지구와 GTX-A 킨텍스역을 연결하는 유일한 노선으로, 장항지구 주민들의 광역교통 접근성을 높이는 핵심 대중교통 수단으로 자리 잡고 있다.

고양시에 따르면 N003번 월 이용객은 2025년 7월 7,532명에서 2026년 4월 1만5,430명으로 증가했다. 

불과 9개월 만에 이용객이 약 105% 늘어난 셈이다.

특히 장항지구 내 추가 입주가 이어지면서 향후 교통 수요는 더욱 늘어날 것으로 예상된다. 

올해 12월 한강풍경채 1,184세대 입주를 시작으로 2028년 7월까지 총 1만1,719세대가 순차적으로 입주할 예정이어서 선제적인 대중교통 확충 필요성이 커지고 있다.

고양시는 이번 증차를 통해 N003번의 평일 운행 횟수를 52회로 확대하고, 평일 배차간격을 기존 20~30분에서 10~15분으로 대폭 단축한다. 

주말에는 26회 운행한다.

운행 시간은 평일 첫차 오전 6시, 주말 첫차 오전 6시40분이며, 평일과 주말 모두 막차는 오후 11시10분이다.

시는 차량과 운수종사자 확보 등 관련 행정절차를 신속하게 마무리하고 증차 운행을 준비했다. 

향후 실제 운행 상황과 이용객 추이를 지속적으로 모니터링해 장항지구의 교통 수요에 대응한다는 계획이다.
