파주시가 갈곡천 수질을 개선하고 법원읍 갈곡리 주민들의 오랜 생활환경 개선 요구에 부응하기 위해 ‘법원읍 갈곡리 하수관로 정비사업’​을 본격 추진한다.

파주시는 총 116억7,900만 원​을 투입해 하수관로 6.827km를 정비하고, 191가구의 배수설비와 맨홀펌프장 4곳을 설치할 계획이다. 

사업비는 국비 66.2%, 시비 33.8%로 구성된다.

시는 현재 본격적인 공사 착수를 위한 행정절차를 진행하고 있으며, 오는 10월 중순 착공해 2028년 상반기까지 사업을 완료한다는 계획이다.

사업이 완료되면 갈곡리 일원에서 발생하는 생활하수가 정비된 하수관로를 통해 공공하수처리시설로 안정적으로 유입·처리될 수 있게 된다. 

이에 따라 갈곡천으로 유입되는 오염원을 줄이고 수질을 개선하는 동시에, 그동안 상대적으로 부족했던 하수처리 기반시설도 확충될 것으로 기대된다.
