KT&G and the Korea Rehabilitation Agency (Gyeonggi Northern Branch) Improve Housing Conditions for Vulnerable Families
- Providing study room furniture and supplies for children of rehabilitation recipients; creating a warm, stable home environment -
The Gyeonggi Northern Branch of the Korea Rehabilitation Agency, in partnership with KT&G, has stepped up to support the self-reliance of rehabilitation recipients by improving the housing conditions of families facing financial hardship.
The branch announced on the 29th that it had carried out a "Housing Environment Improvement Project" for the families of rehabilitation recipients.
Participants in the project—including Byeon Gi-cheol (Chairman of the Namyangju Committee), Hong Yong-sun (Secretary-General), and Lee Seung-ho (Officer at the Gyeonggi Northern Branch)—personally visited the families to carry out home improvements and deliver supplies.
In particular, they provided study room furniture—such as desks and chairs—and educational supplies for the children of recipients who previously lacked a proper space for studying due to financial constraints.
The initiative went beyond merely delivering goods; it focused on making tangible improvements to living spaces so that the children could concentrate on their studies in a more stable environment.
Additionally, with winter approaching, the team refurbished the living areas to ensure the families could live in a more comfortable and warm environment, thereby helping to establish a stable home.
This project is significant for improving the living conditions of rehabilitation recipient families struggling with substandard housing, as well as for boosting the psychological stability and determination for self-reliance among family members. Byun Ki-chul, Chairman of the Namyangju Committee, stated, "We wanted to lend a helping hand so that those under our care could safely spend the upcoming winter in a comfortable and warm home," adding, "We will continue to carry out housing improvement projects to provide secure and restful living spaces for these individuals and their families."
The Gyeonggi Northern Branch of the Korea Rehabilitation Agency plans to expand cooperation with relevant organizations—including KT&G—and the local community. It intends to continue various support programs to help individuals under its care establish a stable foundation for life and successfully reintegrate into society.
