Korea Rehabilitation Agency (Gyeonggi Northern Branch) Hosts Chuseok ‘Integrity-Focused Pancake Making’ Event
Sharing the warmth of the holiday with rehabilitation recipients by making dumplings and traditional pancakes alongside the Uijeongbu Women’s Committee.
Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, the Gyeonggi Northern Branch of the Korea Rehabilitation Agency and the Uijeongbu Women’s Committee shared the warmth of the season with individuals receiving rehabilitation support.
On the 23rd, the Gyeonggi Northern Branch and the Uijeongbu Women’s Committee held a Chuseok outreach event titled "Integrity-Focused Pancake Making" at the branch office for recipients currently provided with room and board.
Attendees included Kwon Young-ho (Head of the Gyeonggi Northern Branch), Lee Young-soon (Chairperson of the Uijeongbu Women’s Committee), rehabilitation committee members, and branch staff.
Participants shared a sense of connection by making dumplings and preparing holiday food together with the rehabilitation recipients.
The event was particularly meaningful as it moved beyond the simple delivery of goods; instead, it created an opportunity for committee members and recipients to cook, eat, and share stories together.
It was an occasion designed to convey the warmth of the community to recipients—who might otherwise feel isolated during the holiday—and to encourage their successful reintegration into society and their determination to become self-reliant.
Committee members and recipients communicated naturally and offered mutual encouragement while preparing the holiday food.
Working together to cook and sharing a meal around the table served as a reminder to the rehabilitation recipients that they remain connected to the local community. Kwon Young-ho, Head of the Northern Gyeonggi Branch, stated, "I hope this Chuseok support event gives a boost to those facing hardships who are currently receiving housing and meal assistance," adding, "I extend my deepest gratitude to the Uijeongbu Women's Committee for their unwavering dedication and generous support."
Chairperson Lee Young-soon and members of the Uijeongbu Women's Committee also expressed their commitment to continuing their interest and acts of sharing to help these individuals successfully settle into society.
The event served as an opportunity to offer genuine comfort and encouragement to individuals under the protection of the justice system during the Chuseok holiday, while also highlighting the importance of community-led sharing and support for self-reliance.
