Ilsan 2-dong, Goyang City, Looks Out for Households in Crisis
The Community Social Security Council of Ilsan 2-dong, Goyang Special City, held discussions to identify vulnerable residents in the area and devise support measures.
On the 29th, the council held its third regular meeting of the year at the Ilsan 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center. They reviewed the progress of initiatives aimed at identifying residents in need of welfare assistance. During the meeting, they shared findings regarding residents facing welfare blind spots or at risk of "lonely deaths" (dying alone) and examined cases where AI-assisted initial consultations successfully led to actual support.
Staff members assessed residents' living conditions and identified needs through phone calls and home visits, using this information to discuss response strategies for households in crisis.
They also reviewed the status of existing programs for vulnerable groups. These include the "Health-Smart Sharing Box" initiative, which involves delivering care packages and checking on the well-being of 20 low-income elderly households, and the "Angel Care" program, which delivers Yakult (a probiotic drink) once a week to 30 households consisting of elderly individuals living alone or low-income families.
Additionally, the council provided information on application procedures for integrated medical and nursing care services. Members were also asked to notify the Administrative Welfare Center if they encountered residents in need of care during their daily activities, so that these individuals could be connected to relevant welfare services.
Kim Gwan-yang, the Head of Ilsan 2-dong, emphasized the growing importance of the community's role in identifying and supporting residents in need of care. He urged council members to keep a close watch on residents and to actively cooperate in connecting them with necessary care and welfare services.
