Goyang City Listens Directly to Residents Across 44 Neighborhoods… ‘Open Resident Communication & Empathy Talks’ Kick Off

- Visits to Ilsan 3-dong and Daehwa-dong; focused discussions on local issues ranging from welfare and transportation to resident inconveniences caused by event venues.

- Mayor Min Gyeong-seon: “We will carefully review suggestions made on-site and actively incorporate them into city administration.”

Goyang Special City has launched its “2026 Open Resident Communication & Empathy Talks,” an initiative to visit neighborhoods directly, listen to local issues, and seek solutions.

The city announced that it visited Ilsan 3-dong and Daehwa-dong on the 29th to share local issues with residents and listen to their daily inconveniences and policy suggestions.

These “Empathy Talks” were organized to strengthen resident participation and implement field-oriented communication in administration.

Attended by key city officials and residents, the sessions focused on discussing local issues based on previously submitted suggestions while also gathering additional feedback on-site.

In Ilsan 3-dong, key agenda items included the reorganization of meal services for the elderly, the resumption of the mobile bicycle repair center service, and the operation of the demand-responsive bus service known as “Ttok-Bus”—all matters directly linked to resident welfare and daily convenience.

In Daehwa-dong, discussions focused heavily on measures to alleviate inconveniences experienced by nearby residents due to large-scale events held at the Goyang Sports Complex.

Additionally, various suggestions reflecting local characteristics were raised, such as improving the class registration system at the Goyang Gymnasium and establishing a governance structure for the “Gawaji Rice Seed” initiative. Goyang Special City Mayor Min Gyeong-seon stated, "By visiting two neighborhoods in succession today, I was able to hear firsthand the vivid voices of residents regarding their daily lives." He added, "We will carefully review not only the suggestions submitted in advance but also the valuable opinions shared on-site, and actively incorporate them into city administration."

He further emphasized, "We will continue to expand opportunities for direct communication with citizens to ensure our city administration delivers tangible results that residents can truly feel."

Including the recent visits to Ilsan 3-dong and Daehwa-dong, Goyang City has so far held these "empathy talks" in four of its 44 neighborhoods.

The city plans to visit the remaining 40 neighborhoods sequentially through the end of the year to listen directly to local issues and incorporate residents' feedback into city administration.

In particular, the city aims to go beyond merely listening to local issues; it intends to translate this into "on-site administration"—where residents can tangibly experience change—through reviews by relevant departments and subsequent follow-up actions.
