Goyang City Buddhist Temples Association Donates 200 Blankets to Vulnerable Groups… “Hoping for a Warm Winter”
Goyang Special City Hosts ‘Compassionate Blanket Donation Ceremony’… Supporting 200 Households
Ahead of the approaching winter, Goyang Special City continued its private-sector sharing initiatives to help vulnerable members of the local community stay warm.
Goyang Special City announced that it held a ‘Compassionate Blanket Donation Ceremony’ on the 29th at the Town Meeting Room on the first floor of City Hall, in partnership with the Goyang City Buddhist Temples Association.
Seventeen people attended the event, including Goyang Special City Mayor Min Gyeong-seon and Venerable Daedeok, the president of the Goyang City Buddhist Temples Association.
The association donated 200 blankets to support vulnerable groups; these blankets will be distributed to 200 households in need within the city through the Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea.
Founded in 1985, the Goyang City Buddhist Temples Association has consistently engaged in various volunteer and sharing activities for marginalized neighbors in the local community.
The association practices neighborly love by conducting sharing activities throughout the community, such as operating free meal centers and distributing coal briquettes.
At the ceremony, Venerable Daedeok said, “We prepared these blankets hoping that our neighbors facing hardship might stay a little warmer and more comfortable as winter approaches.” He added, “Although it is a modest gesture, I hope the blankets reach those who need them and provide them with warm comfort.” Goyang Special City Mayor Min Gyeong-seon stated, “It is especially meaningful that the Goyang City Buddhist Temples Association, which has long gifted neighbors a warm winter through briquette donations, is continuing that spirit of warmth this year by donating blankets.” He added, “I extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who consistently engages in sharing and volunteer work for the local community.”
Building on this donation, Goyang City plans to further strengthen ties with private-sector resources and maintain a cooperative system to ensure that voluntary private donations and volunteer activities lead to the spread of a culture of sharing throughout the community.
