동국대학교일산병원 신경과 서지원 교수가 치매 예방과 치료, 환자와 가족의 삶의 질 향상에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 국무총리 표창을 수상했다.

서지원 교수는 지난 21일 서울 과학기술컨벤션센터에서 열린 ‘제19회 치매극복의 날 기념식’에서 치매 극복 유공자로 선정돼 국무총리 표창을 받았다.

이날 기념식에는 정부 및 유관기관 관계자를 비롯해 치매 극복 유공자와 공모전 수상자 등 약 300여 명이 참석해 치매 극복을 위한 사회적 관심과 연대의 의미를 되새겼다.

서 교수는 신경과 전문의로서 그동안 치매와 다양한 인지기능장애 환자를 진료하며 조기 진단과 적절한 치료, 지속적인 관리에 힘써왔다.

특히 경도인지장애를 비롯해 알츠하이머병, 혈관성 치매 등 다양한 치매 질환에 대해 환자의 상태와 특성을 고려한 체계적인 진료와 치료를 이어오며 치매 환자들의 건강한 일상 회복과 삶의 질 향상에 기여해 왔다.
