대한민국 사회 각 분야에서 묵묵히 활동하며 국가와 지역사회 발전에 기여한 인사들을 발굴하고 그 공로를 알리는 ‘2026 대한민국뉴리더대상’ 시상식이 오는 10월 15일 열린다.

사단법인 한국신문방송인협회는 오는 10월 15일 협회 사무국에서 ‘2026 대한민국뉴리더대상’ 시상식을 개최한다고 밝혔다.

대한민국뉴리더대상은 정치와 지방자치, 경제, 사회, 교육, 문화예술, 언론, 복지, 과학기술, 산업, 지역사회 등 대한민국 각계각층에서 국가와 사회 발전에 기여한 인사를 발굴해 공로를 알리기 위해 마련된 시상제도다.

특히 단순한 인지도나 직위 중심의 선정에서 벗어나 실제 활동과 공적을 중심으로 수상자를 선정한다는 점을 주요 특징으로 내세우고 있다.

협회는 언론인들의 추천을 바탕으로 수상 후보자를 접수한 뒤 상벌위원회의 자격심사를 거쳐 최종 수상자를 결정할 계획이다. 

상벌위원회는 후보자의 활동 경력과 사회적 공헌, 전문성, 공익성, 해당 분야에서의 성과 등을 종합적으로 검토해 대한민국뉴리더대상의 취지에 부합하는 인사를 선정한다.

협회 관계자는 “대한민국 사회의 발전과 공동체 가치 향상에 기여한 인사들을 찾아 그들의 노력을 알리는 것이 이번 시상식의 중요한 의미”라며 “화려한 직함보다는 각자의 현장에서 실질적인 성과와 사회적 가치를 만들어 온 인물들을 발굴하는 데 중점을 두고 있다”고 밝혔다.

언론인 추천 중심…현장 활동과 공적 종합 심사

이번 대한민국뉴리더대상은 언론 현장에서 각 분야를 취재하고 지켜봐 온 언론인들이 후보자를 추천한다는 점에서도 차별화를 꾀하고 있다.

다만 언론인의 추천 자체가 수상으로 직결되는 것은 아니다. 

추천된 후보자는 별도의 상벌위원회 심사를 거쳐 활동의 지속성, 사회적 영향, 공공성, 전문성 및 해당 분야의 기여도 등을 종합적으로 평가받게 된다.

협회는 이러한 절차를 통해 수상자의 명예와 대한민국뉴리더대상의 공신력을 함께 높여 나간다는 방침이다.

수상 대상에는 지방자치 현장에서 주민들의 삶의 질 향상을 위해 노력한 인사를 비롯해 기업과 산업 현장에서 성장동력을 만들어 낸 인사, 교육과 학술 발전에 기여한 인사, 문화예술과 체육 발전에 힘쓴 인사, 복지와 봉사활동을 통해 사회적 가치를 실천한 인사 등이 폭넓게 포함된다.

또 언론과 미디어 발전에 기여하거나 지역사회 문제 해결과 공익 증진을 위해 지속적으로 활동해 온 인사 역시 후보자로 추천할 수 있다.

국회 상임위원장상도 함께 진행…시상식 위상 강화

이번 시상식에서는 대한민국뉴리더대상과 함께 국회 상임위원회 상임위원장상도 관련 절차에 따라 진행될 예정이다.

상임위원장상은 해당 분야에서의 활동과 공적, 추천 및 심사 절차 등을 종합해 대상자를 선정하는 방향으로 추진된다.

협회는 관련 기준과 절차를 준수하면서 각 분야에서 국가와 사회 발전에 기여해 온 인사를 적극적으로 발굴한다는 계획이다.
