Jungsan 1-dong, Goyang City, Strengthens Personal Information Protection During Resident Registration Survey
Jungsan 1-dong in Goyang Special City is implementing resident-centered administration by utilizing custom-made privacy shields for the resident registration verification survey, thereby strengthening personal information protection.
On the 9th, Jungsan 1-dong announced that it had produced and distributed privacy shields to *tongjangs* (heads of administrative units) for use during the door-to-door "2026 Resident Registration Verification Survey," which runs until October 26. This measure was designed to minimize the risk of personal information exposure during the visitation process.
The resident registration verification survey is a crucial administrative procedure that enhances the accuracy of resident registration records by confirming actual residency. Because the process involves household rosters that may reveal the names and addresses of other households, careful management of personal information has long been required.
To address this, Jungsan 1-dong created shields that cover parts of the roster, allowing surveyors to view only the information of the specific household being visited. These were distributed to 19 *tongjangs* to prevent the unnecessary exposure of other households' personal information and to ensure residents feel more at ease participating in the survey. Additionally, the office produced custom notices for households that were absent during the initial visit; designed as adhesive notes, these clearly indicate the visit details and the schedule for a follow-up visit, thereby reducing inconvenience for residents and improving survey efficiency.
Jungsan 1-dong plans to continue this resident-focused administrative approach by applying small, practical ideas to the field, simultaneously enhancing resident convenience and personal information protection.
Park Sang-hee, Head of Jungsan 1-dong, stated, "While the accuracy of the resident registration survey is important, the safe protection of residents' personal information is equally vital." She added, "We will continue to make meticulous efforts to provide administrative services that residents can trust.".
