파주시가 서울문산고속도로 금촌나들목(IC)의 문산 방향 진출입로 연결을 추진하기 위해 현장을 직접 살피고 사업 추진 가능성을 점검했다.

파주시는 지난 4일 손배찬 파주시장이 ‘현문현답’의 일환으로 서울문산고속도로 금촌나들목 현장을 찾아 문산 방향 연결사업의 현황을 확인했다고 밝혔으며 이번 현장점검은 민선9기 공약사업 가운데 하나인 금촌IC 문산 방향 연결사업의 구체적인 추진 방향을 마련하기 위해 이뤄졌다. 

현재 금촌IC에는 문산 방향 진출입로가 마련돼 있지 않아 파주 북부지역으로 이동하는 주민과 차량들이 다른 경로로 돌아가야 하는 불편이 이어지고 있다.

손 시장은 현장을 둘러본 뒤 사업 추진을 위한 타당성 검토 용역의 필요성과 관련한 보고를 받고, 진출입시설을 설치할 수 있는 방안을 비롯해 사업의 경제성 및 관계기관 협의 사항 등을 살폈으며 아울러 용역 추진 이후 필요한 행정절차와 사업 진행 과정에 대해서도 의견을 나누며 실효성 있는 추진 방안을 논의했다.

파주시는 이번 점검을 바탕으로 타당성 검토 등을 통해 사업의 경제성과 실현 가능성을 면밀히 살피고 시민들의 교통 불편을 줄일 수 있는 방안을 마련한다는 계획이다.

손배찬 파주시장은 “금촌IC 문산 방향 연결은 시민들의 이동 편의를 높이고 지역 발전에도 영향을 미칠 수 있는 중요한 사업”이라며 “타당성 검토 용역을 통해 합리적이면서도 실제 추진 가능한 방안을 마련해 보다 편리한 교통환경을 조성할 수 있도록 철저히 준비해 달라”고 당부했다.
