파주시 문산도서관이 다음 달 30일부터 10월 21일까지 만 7세 어린이들과 함께하는 독서코칭 프로그램을 진행한다.

7일 도서관 측에 따르면 프로그램명은 '말놀이 숲에서 책이랑 쑥쑥'이며, 경기도서관 지원사업에 뽑히면서 마련됐으며 그림책으로 하는 독서지도에 말놀이 활동을 더해 아이들이 말을 표현하는 힘과 낱말 실력, 문장을 만드는 능력을 기르고 책과 친해지도록 돕는 게 취지다.

수업은 수요일마다 열리며 도서관 1층 공간 '루트2'에서 네 차례 이어지며 참가 대상은 20명으로, 한 번 수업할 때 40분짜리 두 타임을 진행하고 그 사이 10분 정도 쉬어간다.

말하고 듣는 활동은 물론 이야기를 엮어보고 감정을 나누는 활동까지 단계를 밟아가며 배우도록 짰고 몇몇 시간에는 가족도 함께 나와 집에서도 책 읽는 습관을 들이고 부모 자녀가 어울릴 기회를 넓히는 데 보탬이 될 전망이다.

이인숙 관장은 "유아기는 언어와 정서 발달의 기초가 형성되는 중요한 시기"라며 "앞으로도 지역 아동의 눈높이에 맞춘 다양한 독서문화 프로그램을 지속적으로 운영하겠다"고 말했다.

Paju Munsan Library will host a reading coaching program for seven-year-old children from the 30th of next month through October 21.

According to the library on the 7th, the program is titled "Growing with Books in the Forest of Word Play." It was organized after being selected for a Gyeonggi Provincial Library support project. The program aims to help children build verbal expression skills, vocabulary, and sentence-construction abilities—and foster a love for books—by combining word play activities with reading guidance based on picture books.

Classes will be held every Wednesday for four sessions in the "Route 2" space on the library's first floor. The program accommodates 20 participants, with each session consisting of two 40-minute segments separated by a 10-minute break.

The curriculum is designed to guide children through a step-by-step learning process, ranging from speaking and listening activities to weaving stories and sharing emotions. Some sessions will also involve family members, helping to establish reading habits at home and providing opportunities for parents and children to bond.

Library Director Lee In-sook stated, "Early childhood is a crucial period for laying the foundation of language and emotional development," adding, "We will continue to operate diverse reading and cultural programs tailored to the needs and perspectives of local children."
