고양특례시가 양성평등의 가치를 되새기고 시민과 함께 평등한 사회문화를 확산하기 위한 기념행사를 열었다.

고양특례시는 지난 3일 고양어울림누리 별모래극장에서 시민 300여 명이 참석한 가운데 ‘제31회 양성평등주간 기념행사’를 성황리에 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 매년 9월 1일부터 7일까지 지정된 양성평등주간을 맞아 개인의 존엄과 인권을 존중하고, 일상 속 성차별적 관행을 개선해 양성평등 문화를 확산하기 위해 마련됐다. 

올해 행사의 슬로건은 ‘양성평등, 더 넓고 더 깊게’다.

행사장에서는 시민들이 직접 참여하고 양성평등의 의미를 되새길 수 있는 다양한 프로그램이 진행됐다.

참석자들은 ‘부채 가훈 쓰기’와 함께 일상에서 무심코 사용하는 성차별적 언어를 양성평등한 표현으로 바꿔보는 참여형 프로그램에 참여하며 생활 속 양성평등 실천의 의미를 되새겼다.

특히 ‘세대 공감 패션쇼’에는 남녀노소 다양한 연령대의 시민들이 참여해 성별과 나이에 따른 고정관념에서 벗어나 각자의 개성을 선보였다. 

참가자들은 패션을 통해 새로운 도전에 대한 메시지를 전달하며 세대와 성별을 넘어 서로를 존중하는 의미를 공유했다.

이와 함께 양성평등 실현과 지역사회 발전에 기여한 유공자 20명에게 고양시장상과 고양시의회 의장상이 수여됐다.

민경선 고양특례시장은 기념사에서 “양성평등은 특정 성별만을 위한 가치가 아니라 모든 시민이 존중받고 자신의 삶을 주도적으로 살아가기 위한 기본적인 권리”라고 강조했다.

이어 “시민들이 일상에서 양성평등을 체감할 수 있도록 실효성 있는 정책을 추진하고, 누구나 차별 없이 존중받는 도시를 만들기 위해 지속적으로 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.

시는 이번 기념행사를 계기로 시민들의 양성평등에 대한 관심과 참여를 높이고, 일상 속에서 성별에 따른 차별과 고정관념을 개선할 수 있는 다양한 정책과 사업을 지속적으로 추진할 계획이다.
