Goyang City Daehwa Library Organizes Autumn Humanities Lectures
Goyang Special City's Daehwa Library is presenting a humanities program that examines travel and human relationships from a new perspective.
Through the "Twelve Months Humanities Academy" autumn lectures, designed to help citizens view familiar daily life from a different angle and broaden their horizons for interpreting life, the library is inviting experts in the fields of geography and psychology.
The first event is a lecture by Professor Lee Young-min, held for 90 minutes starting at 7:00 PM on September 29. Titled "A Geographer's Humanities Journey," this lecture approaches travel not merely as an activity limited to visiting tourist attractions, but as a process of forming relationships with people, landscapes, and unfamiliar cultures. It covers methods for experiencing travel destinations through the five senses based on knowledge of nature and culture, as well as the meaning of fair travel, which involves traveling while respecting different cultures.
Professor Lee Young-min completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in Geography Education at Seoul National University and received his Ph.D. in Geographical Anthropology from Louisiana State University in the United States. He currently teaches students in the Department of Social Studies Education at Ewha Womans University. She has published books such as *A Geographer’s Humanities Journey*.
Following this, on October 16 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, Shin Go-eun, CEO of Personal Minding, will deliver the second lecture under the theme "The Minimalist Egoist: How to Take Care of Yourself First." This session will focus on how to maintain relationships without losing sight of one's own emotions and needs, examining tips for setting healthy boundaries. In particular, she will introduce communication methods applicable to real life, such as how to refuse requests rather than unconditionally accepting them, how to ask for help when necessary, and how to avoid getting overly emotionally swept up.
CEO Shin Go-eun leads the psychological education company Personal Minding and has appeared on KBS Daejeon’s *Morning Plaza* and KBS 1 Radio’s *All the Information in the World*. Her published works include *It’s Not Sinking, It’s Wanting*.
