파주시가 시민과 전문가의 다양한 의견을 바탕으로 지속가능한 미래 환경도시 조성을 위한 중장기 환경정책 수립에 본격적으로 나섰다.

파주시는 지난 27일 시청 대회의실에서 시민과 전문가, 관계 기관 관계자 등이 참석한 가운데 「2040 파주시 환경계획(안)」 공청회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 공청회는 파주시의 미래 환경정책 방향을 공유하고 시민과 전문가의 의견을 폭넓게 수렴해 환경계획의 완성도를 높이기 위해 마련됐다.

공청회는 「2040 파주시 환경계획(안)」의 주요 내용과 추진 방향에 대한 발표를 시작으로 전문가 토론과 참석자 의견 청취 등의 순으로 진행됐다. 

참석자들은 생활환경 개선과 기후위기 대응, 생태계 보전, 시민 참여 확대 등 파주시가 앞으로 추진해야 할 주요 환경정책과 중장기 비전에 대해 다양한 의견을 제시했다.

특히 급변하는 기후환경에 대응하면서 파주시가 보유한 생태적 가치를 보전하고 시민들이 일상에서 체감할 수 있는 환경정책을 마련해야 한다는 데 의견이 모아졌다. 

또한 환경정책의 실효성을 높이기 위해 행정 중심의 정책 추진을 넘어 시민과 지역사회가 함께 참여하는 체계가 필요하다는 의견도 제시됐다.

파주시는 공청회에서 제시된 의견을 비롯해 오는 9월 10일까지 현장 및 서면으로 접수되는 시민 의견을 종합적으로 검토해 최종 환경계획에 반영할 계획이다.

「2040 파주시 환경계획」은 파주시의 환경 여건과 변화 전망을 바탕으로 생활환경, 기후·에너지, 자연생태 등 다양한 분야의 중장기 정책 방향을 제시하는 환경 분야의 종합적인 계획으로, 향후 파주시가 지속가능한 환경도시로 나아가기 위한 정책적 기반으로 활용될 예정이다.
