파주시의회 이정은 의원이 복지정책 강화와 시민 중심의 현장 의정활동을 펼쳐온 공로를 인정받아 글로벌 도시브랜드 관련 시상에서 특별상을 수상했다.

파주시의회에 따르면 이 의원은 26일 시사저널이 주관하고 한국지방자치학회가 후원한 ‘2026 글로벌 도시브랜드 대상’ 시상식에서 특별상 수상자로 이름을 올렸다. 

올해 네 번째로 열린 이번 시상식은 지방자치단체와 도시의 경쟁력 및 브랜드 가치를 높이는 데 기여한 인물들의 성과를 조명하기 위해 마련됐으며, 도시매력도와 도시관광 등을 포함한 12개 부문에서 수상자를 선정했다.

이 의원은 그동안 시민들의 복지 증진과 사회적 약자 보호를 위한 제도 마련에 주력해왔으며, 복지 분야의 다양한 조례를 발의하는 등 지역사회 복지 기반을 강화하는 의정활동을 이어왔고 또한 저출생과 고령화 등 지역사회가 당면한 사회적 문제에 대해서도 적극적으로 대응하며 지방자치 발전과 시민 삶의 질 향상에 힘써온 점을 높이 평가받았다.

시정 현안을 바라보는 현장 중심의 의정활동 역시 수상 배경으로 꼽혔으며  주요 현안을 세심하게 살피는 한편 시민들과의 소통을 의정활동의 중요한 기준으로 삼고 현장의 목소리를 정책에 반영하기 위해 노력해왔고 이러한 활동을 통해 파주시의 지속 가능한 발전을 뒷받침하고 도시의 경쟁력과 대외적인 브랜드 가치를 높이는 데 기여했다는 평가다.

이정은 의원은 수상 후 시민들과 동료 의원들에게 감사의 뜻을 전하고 앞으로도 초심을 잃지 않는 의정활동을 펼치겠다는 의지를 밝혔으며 특히 시민들의 목소리에 더욱 귀 기울이고 현장을 직접 찾아가는 활동을 지속하면서 파주시가 국내를 넘어 세계적으로도 경쟁력을 갖춘 도시로 성장할 수 있도록 맡은 역할에 최선을 다하겠다고 강조했다.

Paju City Council Member Lee Jeong-eun received a special award at a global city brand awards ceremony in recognition of her contributions to strengthening welfare policies and conducting citizen-centered, on-site legislative activities.

According to the Paju City Council, Council Member Lee was named a special award recipient at the ‘2026 Global City Brand Awards’ ceremony held on the 26th, organized by Sisa Journal and sponsored by the Korean Association for Local Government Studies.

This awards ceremony, held for the fourth time this year, was established to highlight the achievements of individuals who have contributed to enhancing the competitiveness and brand value of local governments and cities. Winners were selected across 12 categories, including urban attractiveness and urban tourism.
