파주시가 최근 국지성 집중호우와 홍수로 북한 지역에서 유실된 목함지뢰 등 미상 폭발물이 임진강변으로 유입될 가능성에 대비해 시민 안전을 위한 예방 활동을 강화하고 있다.

이번 조치는 관할 군부대의 안전 홍보물 제작 협조 요청에 따라 신속하게 추진됐으며, 유실지뢰로 인한 인명사고를 사전에 예방하는 데 중점을 두고 있다.

시는 주민과 행락객의 통행이 잦은 임진강 유역 하천변과 민간인출입통제선 출입구를 비롯해 주변 관광지와 낚시터 등에 안전 홍보물을 집중적으로 설치했다. 

현수막 40개소와 입간판 45개소를 설치했으며, 18일부터 유실지뢰 안전수칙이 담긴 전단지 2만4천 부를 본격 배포하고 있다.

홍보물에는 유실지뢰의 실제 사진과 함께 발견 시 행동요령도 구체적으로 안내했다. 

유실지뢰로 의심되는 물체를 발견할 경우 약한 충격에도 폭발할 수 있는 만큼 절대 만지거나 이동해서는 안 된다. 

또 다른 사람의 접근을 막기 위해 최소 2m 이상의 안전거리를 확보하고 주변에 표식을 설치한 뒤 즉시 신고해야 한다.

신고는 가까운 군부대(국번 없이 1338)나 경찰서(112)로 하면 되며, 신고할 때는 발견된 물체의 위치와 모양, 재질, 크기 등 현장 상황을 구체적으로 설명해야 신속한 조치가 가능하다.
