파주시가 북부권 대표 청소년수련시설인 ‘파주시청소년수련관’의 명칭을 ‘문산청소년센터’로 공식 변경하고, 청소년과 지역 주민을 위한 복합 문화·활동 공간으로서의 역할 강화에 나선다.

이번 명칭 변경은 기존 ‘청소년수련관’이라는 명칭이 수련과 체육 중심의 이미지를 갖고 있는 데서 벗어나, 현재 시설에서 운영하고 있는 다양한 청소년 활동과 교육·문화·체육 등 복합적인 기능을 보다 직관적으로 알리기 위해 추진됐다.

이에 따라 파주시는 북부권의 ‘문산청소년센터’와 남부권의 ‘운정청소년센터’ 등 2곳의 청소년수련시설을 권역별로 운영하게 됐다. 

시는 이번 개칭을 통해 청소년과 지역 주민들이 각 시설의 위치와 역할을 보다 쉽게 이해하고 이용할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.

구 파주시청소년수련관인 문산청소년센터는 연간 16만8천여 명이 이용하는 북부권 대표 청소년시설이다. 

청소년 문화예술 대축제와 거리공연 등 다양한 문화예술 활동을 비롯해 청소년 미디어 창작자 지원사업을 운영하며 청소년들의 창의적인 활동을 지원하고 있다.

또한 AI·디지털 기반 창작활동과 4차 산업 체험을 연계한 ‘엔(N)차 창의융합 활동’, 자기도전포상제 등 창의융합 및 미래교육 프로그램도 마련해 청소년들의 역량 강화와 진로 탐색을 돕고 있다.

이와 함께 수영과 클라이밍 등 생활체육 프로그램을 비롯해 청소년과 지역 주민을 대상으로 한 다양한 교육·문화 프로그램을 운영하며 지역사회 내 복합 청소년 문화공간으로 자리매김하고 있다.

유연욱 파주시 청년청소년과장은 “이번 명칭 변경으로 북부권과 남부권의 청소년센터 체계가 더욱 명확해졌다”며 “앞으로도 청소년의 건강한 성장을 다각도로 지원하고, 지역사회에 긍정적인 에너지를 불어넣는 청소년 친화적 공간으로 거듭나기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

파주시는 앞으로도 권역별 청소년시설의 특성과 기능을 강화하고 다양한 프로그램을 통해 청소년들이 자유롭게 참여하고 성장할 수 있는 환경을 조성해 나갈 계획이다.
