민경선 고양특례시장이 고양시의 시급한 교통 현안 해결을 위해 정부세종청사와 국회를 잇는 광폭 행보에 나섰다.

고양시에 따르면 민 시장은 지난 13일 국회 의원회관에서 박홍근 기획예산처 장관을 만나 주요 현안에 대한 정책 건의서를 직접 전달하고, 정부 차원의 적극적인 지원과 협조를 요청했다.

이번 면담은 지역 현안 해결을 위해 여·야·정이 뜻을 모은 자리로, 김성회 국회의원의 주선으로 마련됐다. 

한준호 국회의원도 함께 참석해 고양시 철도 교통망 확충의 필요성과 시급성을 강조했다.

민 시장이 전달한 건의서에는 고양시민들의 오랜 숙원인 수도권 서북부 광역철도망 구축을 위한 주요 사업들이 담겼다.

우선 고양은평선의 일산 연장 사업을 통해 고양시청에서 식사동까지 노선을 연장하고, 교통 소외지역으로 꼽히는 식사·풍동 지역 주민들의 출퇴근 불편을 해소해 줄 것을 요청했다.

또 신분당선 서북부 연장 노선 폐지에 따른 대안으로 고양-신사선의 국가철도망 계획 반영을 건의했다. 

삼송·신원 지역의 교통난을 해소하고 수도권 서북부 지역의 광역교통 접근성을 높이기 위해 국가 차원의 검토가 필요하다는 취지다.

인천2호선 고양 연장 사업의 예비타당성조사 통과도 주요 건의사항에 포함됐다. 

해당 사업은 인천 서구에서 킨텍스와 주엽, 일산역을 연결하는 노선으로, 사업이 추진될 경우 수도권 서북부 지역의 교통 체증 완화와 인천 접근성 개선에 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.
