한국과 일본의 미래를 이끌어갈 청소년 유도 선수들이 스포츠를 매개로 우정을 나누기 위해 고양특례시에 모였다.

고양특례시는 지난 30일 덕양구청 대회의실에서 '2026 한·일 청소년 유도 교류대회' 환영식을 개최했다고 31일 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 고양특례시체육회가 주최하고 고양특례시유도회가 주관했다.

한·일 청소년 유도 교류대회는 1998년 일본 도치기현에서 처음 시작된 이후 올해로 28년째 이어지고 있는 양국의 대표적인 스포츠 교류 행사다. 

코로나19 확산으로 대회가 열리지 못했던 2020년부터 2022년을 제외하고는 매년 한국과 일본을 오가며 개최돼 왔으며, 청소년 선수들이 스포츠를 통해 서로의 문화를 이해하고 우정을 쌓는 교류의 장으로 자리매김했다.

이날 환영식에는 고바야시 슈이치 단장이 이끄는 일본 청소년 선수단 30여 명과 이성수 고양특례시유도회장을 비롯한 관계자 10여 명 등 총 40여 명이 참석했다.

박원석 고양특례시 제1부시장도 행사에 참석해 일본 선수단을 환영하고 고양시 공식 마스코트인 '고양고양이' 인형을 기념품으로 전달하며 양국 선수들의 우정을 응원했다.

박원석 제1부시장은 환영사를 통해 "이번 교류대회가 승패를 떠나 양국 청소년들이 서로의 실력을 존중하고 문화를 이해하며 깊은 우정을 쌓는 뜻깊은 시간이 되기를 바란다"며 "앞으로도 지속적인 스포츠 교류를 통해 한·일 양국의 미래 세대가 함께 성장해 나가길 기대한다"고 말했다.

환영식을 마친 양국 선수단은 31일 오후 고양특례시청 체육관에서 본격적인 교류대회를 치른다. 

선수들은 그동안 갈고닦은 기량을 선보이며 선의의 경쟁을 펼치는 한편, 스포츠맨십을 바탕으로 서로를 격려하고 화합의 의미를 되새기는 시간을 가질 예정이다.

고양특례시는 이번 교류대회가 청소년 스포츠 발전은 물론 양국 미래 세대 간 상호 이해와 국제 우호 증진에도 의미 있는 역할을 할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
